A Quick SXSW Lesson

I spent a week trying to absorb everything I could at SXSW.

I took in quite a bit from my friends. I learned from Derek Overbey, Morgan Brown and Sukhjit Ghag how to gather an obscene amount of content in a few days. I learned from Dan Patterson that once you have someone’s feet to the fire, you don’t take them out until you smell something cooking. My wife showed that me that slow and steady wins the race (more on that later).

From the panels, I took in one clear lesson. If you’re going to fail, fail quick. There’s no time to waste anymore continually pushing a square peg into a round hole. Oddly enough, I had Seth Godin’s “The Dip” in my bag most of the time, but never looked at it.
