Here’s a little Google and GMail tip for you.
If your email is email@example.com, try logging in as firstname.lastname@example.org instead of including the period. Boom. No need for the periods. Alternatively, you could try adding a period between each letter of your name. That works too.
If you’re interested in how you can use this to your advantage, try throwing some extra periods into your email the next time you give out your email. Check the emails you get for what email address they were sent to and you’ll see who is giving away your email address.
Simple and effective. In the real world, I change my middle initial when giving out my mailing address to the first initial of the organization I’m giving my information to so I can track it.
