I'm Rob Blatt. For the most part I wrote about my dogs, music and technology. I swear quite a bit, so this blog isn't for people who can't handle that. I encourage you to subscribe to the RSS feed. All the random images to the right are courtesy of my amazing wife.
Wow. Last night was one heck on a night in Manhattan with the stars aligning at the Lunasa Bar. There were lots of awesome people there, some faces I knew from the internet, some faces I knew from previous encounters and some new faces. I’ve gotta acknowledge Walt Ribeiro in general for being an awesome guy and one of those new friends I made at PodCamp a few weeks ago. At some point in the night Walt and I decided to walk around together to avoid the “one new guy in a conversation” and it worked pretty well.
Anyway, afterwards Amber joined us for some drinks and we headed to S’Mac with Kevin from TikiBarTV, Alana Taylor (who will have her own video show soon but she wouldn’t tell me with what site), Bryan Thatcher of FuseBox and one guy I can’t recall his name or where he was from.
It was a great night and, the organizer, Mike Lewis seriously out did himself with the bar selection ($3 well drinks and $3 beers). I managed to shoot a tiny bit of video thanks to Kevin’s camera:
Apparently there are good guys everywhere. The ASPCA runs a mobile neutering clinic. I can’t imagine a better service to offer. Here’s their copy:
The ASPCA runs a community outreach program whose mission is to end the euthanasia of adoptable animals in New York City by preventing accidental and unwanted births of puppies and kittens that eventually end up in NYC shelters. We offer free and low cost spay and neuter surgeries and vaccinations to low income pet owners as well as a range of services for animal rescuers and other animal caretakers with varying needs.
This is a wonderful service and opportunity to make a difference. I really didn’t mean for this to turn into a dog blog, but it has accidentally. The ASPCA is running the program throughout April in all five boroughs. They also have a Trap Neuter Return program on that site.
So to follow up on Lawrence Lessig and the Change Congress movement…
He has decided not to run for the spot in Congress, but that doesn’t mean he’s giving up on the movement he’s started. He’s got a video posted over at http://lessig.org/blog/, his presentations are amazing so it’s worth a watch anyway.
While it seems like I’m being a sore loser (I wanted Lessig to run for the seat), I have an anecdote from an interview I recorded with Al Gore. This was back in the summer of 2007 when people were trying to convince him to run for the presidency again, he responded saying that he can get more done if he’s not the president. The same will probably go for Lessig.
