Pandora – my own radio station

Check it out, my own station, kinda.

After getting coverage on and Inside the Net I gave a try. It is very very cool.

You enter music you like and it creates a “station” for you where it plays the songs and bands that you enter, but also makes suggestions based on over 400 different musical qualities of songs. It brings up some cool suggestions from what I’ve noticed. I’m most interested to find out what characteristics of music that I enjoy. Also, it’s pretty friggin good quality (128kbs mp3 stream) streaming music online. You have the option to pay $3 a month or go free with an ad supported player. Not a software player, but a web application, that means it just work and you don’t download.

“Based on what you told us so far, we’re playing this track because it features hard rock roots, punk influences, a subtle use of vocal harmony, mild rhythmic syncopation and repetitive melodic phrasing.”

That’s why they played me “The Pirate Song” by Go Betty Go. Granted I entered Go Betty Go as one of my artists.

“Based on what you’ve told us so far, we’re playing this track because it features acoustic rock instrumentation, mild rhythmic syncopation, major key tonality, melodic songwriting and a dynamic male vocalist.”
-“Rockin the Suburbs” by Ben Folds.

Post your links in the comments, lemme check out your station.
