Getting More Detail on Android Download Charts

Here’s a tiny tip if you’re curious about the tiny download charts included in the Android Market on the web. We’ll use Foodspotting as the example. The chart we’re gonna play with is highlighted.

And here’s the url that generates that chart using Google’s Chart API:

Switch the numbers that follow “chs=” and you’ll get a larger chart. For instance, changing the dimensions to 505×200 makes the chart look like this:

Google has a few different APIs for making charts, so this may be generated from their javascript chart builder, which may obfuscate the actual numbers. If we could somehow figure out how many were at the peak, the rest is easy.
