Bullshit: Tom Otterness

If you’ve ever been to the 14th St-8th Ave subway station in Manhattan, you’ve probably seen the art installations strewn around the station. They look pretty cool and they add a nice touch to the station. The McBrooklyn blog had a post today Dog Killing Past Still Haunts Tom Otterness.

Turns out that in the name of “art” this low life son of a bitch decided that he would film himself shooting his adopted dog on film to show that

In 1977, I was a young artist having a very rough time. I had anger at myself and at the world. What I did was symbolic of how I was feeling internally and it is something I would never do today.

Words do not exist in the english language for what I feel towards this man. I could give a shit how long ago it was, and I could care less how difficult life was. NOTHING makes life hard enough for you to attempt to further your career by shooting a dog.

My dogs Leeloo and Matty sharing a crate.

A dog. A fucking dog that he ADOPTED. Do you know what it means when adopt a dog? It means you’re saving the dog from death. And this piece of filth decided that he should further his career by shooting his new friend. If I believed in a hell, I would know that Tom Otterness would have a special place reserved for him.

That’s not art. That’s KILLING.

I think it’s great that the NY Daily News mentioned this person today, scroll down to “Art Attack”. It says PETA is against him now too. As they should be.
