Slow hosting from GoDaddy

The past few days this site has some to a crawl for what appears to be no reason aside from GoDaddy’s hosting. I’ve heard similar complaints from people on Twitter.

Despite this not being my fault, I’m sorry. This is supposed to be a simple blog (take a look at the design) and it’s not supposed to be the kind of site you go get some hot chocolate while it loads. I’m going to ry and resolve this soon or I will just wind up leaving GoDaddy. Not having the latest PHP isn’t going to make me leave the service, but serving a WordPress blog that is using Super Cache and has a low amount of traffic is enough.

I’ll give GoDaddy until the Super Bowl to get their shit together or I start migrating.

Update:Looks like GoDaddy is blaming Lijit for the issues. I’m not 100% convinced that this is the issue, as much as it still might be GoDaddy’s fault. The Lijit folks don’t deserve any blame in this case, they’re an awesome company. For the moment, I’m search-less on the blog while I work these issues out.

  1. I'm facing the same problem. Hosting a WordPress site on GoDaddy. It is SLOOOWWWW…. Tried the WP-Cache plugin, seems to work sometimes, but not others. Still slow overall. Other people have WordPress sites that load lighten fast (probably not on GoDaddy). I am paying for hosting just like they are. What gives?

  2. Sam problem for me, godaddy blamed my site for it so i deleted everything off the server and all the databases and uploaded a plain html file that took 30 seconds to load. that is beyond unacceptable!

  3. I've read this somewhere else too. I think there are a few more people that experienced the same problems with their hosting. I'm not sure if Lijit is at fault but I don't think GoDaddy would pass the blame on someone if it wasn't true.

  4. I have a very simple site still under dev in WordPress with only 20 posts and 0 comments and it is dog slow on Godaddy. Either php is slow or the mysql is slow. There seems to be a pause before page processing starts, which makes me thinks it's their my sql connections.
