The Archives!

So it’s been about a month with the new pup. She recognizes her name and perks up when someone says her name. I’ve never taught a dog that before, so that’s cool in my book. She sits and lays down (with a little apprehension) and can hang in the yard without leaving it. We can turn our backs and she does’t run off and she sleeps through the night without having to be leashed to the bed.

Matty has fully taken the responsibility of this new dog being his dog. He watches her eat to make sure that she does before he eats his food, he shows where she can and can’t hang out and is a role model when it comes to listening. The only thing is that he’s protective of Amber and me. If she’s around us, he’ll put himself between her and us. It’s peculiar. He’s the dominant dog and we don’t want to change that, but at the same time we need to show him that it’s perfectly okay if she’s around us and not him. This only resulted in a serious fight once, and I wasn’t around to see it so I couldn’t put Matty in his place. I’m the discipliner between Amber and me, so he wasn’t really yelled at when it happened.

I suppose the next thing would be to teach them both only to do a command when their name is said before it. I’m no dog training expert, but I think that that task is going to be a very difficult one. We’ll see.

Amber takes some great photos of the dogs. Check out her flickr photos.

If it’s a nice photo of the dogs, chances are, it’s hers

Normally I’d post these kinda things into my del.icio.us links in the sidebar, but I laughed til I cried reading this:

Here’s a link to the comic’s site, it’s Penny Arcade, but I think just about anyone who knows me would have heard about the comic already.

The other random tidbit is that back when I had a serious addiction to Rockstar and/or Diet Rockstar I would drink 4 16 oz. cans (maximum) a day to keep the blood flowing in my veins. I know it’s a fuck-ton of energy drink to have, but I got up quick in the mornings, slept like a baby and could stay up late daily.

One look at this site let’s me know exactly how I started gaining weight two or so years ago. Apparently there is 60 grams of sugar in one 16 oz. Rockstar. 60 FUCKING GRAMS! I was a champ for injesting upwards of 240 grams of sugar a day and not being dead.

According to the calculator I would need to drink just over 96 Rockstars in order to die. Ugh. People shouldn’t have that many in a lifetime. I’m afraid I’m probably waaaay over that number. I used to order two of these at a time. Nowadays I have one or two cans of diet Pepsi if I’m feeling sluggish. But that’s a daily maximum.

And I still don’t drink coffee. I think at 25, I will be able to go through life without drinking coffee or needing caffeine in the morning to get me going. Hopefully I’ll be able to stay that way.

So last night Amber and caught the second night of the Joy Trilogy by Andrew WK. We sat about four to five feet from Andrew most of the night, which was amazing and awesome. If you want to go to the third night, head to AndrewWK.com and check out all the info.

The other reason I want to live closer to New rk City is that I don’t want it to be a pain in the ass to go see Harris play tonight. Oh well.

See you next Monday at the final part of the Joy Trilogy.
