Every now and again I get a hankering to watch the original trilogy again. No need to ask what trilogy, you should know. The last time I actually sat down and watched all three movies was their re-release into theatres back when I was graduating high school. It was cool, because I thought I had an adult mind that could absorb the movies a little better than I had been able to previous. As it turns out I marked out pretty easily and sat there like the fanboy I was. It’s not a bad thing, but it happened.

Well, there’s an essay that’s been on the web for years but has just gotten the attention of the high level blogs called “A New Sith or Revenge of the Hope”. This has made me want to watch the three movies again witht he knowledge that this gives. It’s an interesting theory and I love the idea of the two characters in the story that people take for granted are the two most important without anyone realising it.

Here’s the only part of the text I’m going to re-post:

En route to Alderaan, R2 and Chewie play stop-motion chess. This is the latest in a series of games they’ve played over the year in the back rooms of space stations and cantinas across the galaxy, but this is the first time they’ve done it in front of their respective straight men, so they put on a big show.

In a word: AWESOME.

I’m sensing a Star Wars marathon soon.

Have I mentioned that I want to have a collection of tiki drinking glasses? Amber’s already started me out with a volcano bowl (and it’s awesome). It amazes me that there are different glasses/mugs for different drinks? Why? Pretty much because someone said so.

Despite not having the glasses to make a proper one, I think I’d like to have a suffering bastard sometime soon.

The proper glass for a Suffering Bastard

The Suffering Bastard:
1 1/2 oz rum
1 oz overproof rum
3/4 oz Orange Curacao liqueur
1/2 oz orgeat syrup
1 oz fresh lime juice
2 oz fresh orange juice

Served in an old fashioned glass, or a Suffering Bastard mug (as pictured above).

Woke up this morning to a phone call, all was normal. As the morning progressed I developed this pain behind my right eyebrow. Odd place for a headache, but it happens. Next thing I knew I had this intense pain in my right eye to the point I couldn’t keep it open anymore. No swelling or anyhting like that, just the feeling of a hot poker in my eye.

The internets are completely bent on making me think that I’m dying.

Also a rare and severe migraine, the ophthalmoplegic migraine’s pain usually surrounds the eyeball and lasts from a few days to a few months. There may be paralysis in the muscles surrounding the eye. If these symptoms occur, you should seek immediate medical attention because the symptoms can be caused by pressure on the nerves behind the eye.

Diagnostic tests that may be performed include the following:

  • Head CT scan
  • Head MRI
  • Sinuses
  • Temporal artery biopsy
  • Lumbar puncture

  • I don’t need a CT scan, a biopsy, for someone to open up my skull cap or anything that involves poking or prodding or any of that shit. I just want to know some general “how to best deal with your headache” type stuff. You know, what to eat, general advice, that kinda good stuff. not “go to a hospital and make sure that they examine your brain with their hands.”

Apparently my father used to get these when he was my age as well and the cure for him was eventually turning 30. They stopped after 30 for him. Quite odd.

This ranks as worst headache #3. #1 had me vomitting on the side of I-95 on my way to work. This one just had me gagging in front of the toilet.

To me, you can be surprised that the weather was so warm in New England as late as it was, or you can be surprised that it got so cold so freakin fast. Mr. Media, you can not have both.

Granted Texas basicaly shut down when a storm that couldn’t even qualify as a blizzard up here in the north east. But then again, when you’re used to warm weather, anything but is shocking. California is in a state of emergency and prices of oranges are about to go up in the short term.

    Welcome to winter!
