The Archives!

So lately, I’ve taken to designing wordpress blogs (as is relatively obvious by this wordpress blog designed by me.

Unfortuantely, my web design skills became kinda obsolete back in 2000 and I’m slow to pick it all up. But I think I’m getting it. I designed Amber’s companie’s websites www.theperfectglow.com and www.ambersophia.com. Amber Sophia being the more impressive than The Perfect Glow at the moment. Also my own company’s site blattcaveproductions.com.

I’m pretty happy with all three, as I’ve been able to implement most if not all the design ideas I had. This blog in particular was probably the hardest to really nail down all the different elements and file structure. This site is running Squible, Amber Sophia and Blattacve Productions are both running Contempt and The Perfect Glow is running on K2.

This all started when I was younger and was on vacation from my parents in Las Vegas. From my window itn the hotel I could see it in the distance practically begging for my attention. The IN-N-OUT Burger. I had no idea what it was at the time, just a funny name, but I wanted to go.

Being from the East Coast, I’d never heard of this odd named burger joint. I knew that other chains existed outside of the Golden Arches, Burger King, Roy Rogers, Arby’s, Wendy’s, Taco Bell and Checkers; but I hadn’t seen any of them. IN-N-OUT was completely foreign to me. And worse yet, I was too young to venture out by myself and my parents wouldn’t go. It was like torture.

Fast forward a few years later and I find myself in San Francisco walking around thinking to myself “I think those burger joints are out here.” I couldn’t find one, but then off the highway I saw that familiar sign of the red lettering on a yellow backdrop and I knew where I was heading.

It was WONDERFUL. Four menu items to choose from seemed friggin brilliant. The printed menu has not changed since 1948 but little did I know that there was a secret menu. here’s one site about the secret menu and here’s another the second inclues the bible verses included in some of the wrappers. Someone even ordered a 100 patty, 100 slice of cheese burger.

This Octonber, once again I’ll be able to partake in the awesome awesome awesomeness that is IN-N-OUT Burger when I head to San Francisco. There’s an IN-N-OUT on the Fisherman’s Wharf, and when I’m in SF, I’m there. As a matter of fact, here I am in 2004:
